Faces of The Nigerian Golden Book Heroes


Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha (born 22 September 1962) is a Nigerian politician from Imo stateNigeria who won the 6 May 2011 gubernatorial election in Imo state. He ran on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) platform. Rochas defeated his closest rival, incumbent governor Ikedi Ohakim, by a close margin of votes. Rochas appointed Sir Jude Ejiogu as his Chief of Staff.  Career positions include President, Nigeria Red Cross Society, President/Founder, Rochas Foundation Inc, President, Rochas Group of Companies Limited, Pro Chancellor, African Business School and Former Chairman, Board of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency. On March 2, 2013 Rochas led an APGA faction and decamped to All Progressives Congress. He was later elected by his colleague governors in the opposition as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.

Nike Oshinowo Wins The Nigerian Golden Book All Time Queen


Nike Oshinowo (born Adenike Asabi Oshinowo, c. 1968) — also credited as Nike Oshinowo-Soleye —  is a Nigerian entrepreneur, former pageant director, style icon, and television presenter.
Oshinowo was raised in Ibadan and England, where she attended boarding school. Although she had intended to become an air hostess or a doctor, she studied Politics at the University of Essex. Shortly after obtaining her degree, Oshinowo, who was mentored by former Miss Nigeria Helen Prest-Davies, represented Rivers at the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant and became its first Yoruba winner (she was crowned in December 1990, but reigned in 1991).

Chris Okotie Wins The Nigerian Golden Book Great Personality Award, 2015


Christopher Oghenebrorie Okotie (born 16 June 1958) is a leading Nigerian televangelist and the pastor of the Household of God Church International Ministries, a Pentecostal congregation in LagosNigeria since February 1987. He attended secondary school at Edo CollegeBenin City. In 1984, he graduated with a degree in law from the University of Nigeriaat Nsukka. Okotie abandoned his schooling for a while to pursue a highly successful pop music career before his returning abruptly. He had a highly successful music career with his peers such as Dizzy K FalolaJide Obi, and Felix Liberty and they stimulated the emerging music industry of Nigeria.

At the height of his pop music success he returned to school to complete his education and graduated with a law degree. Whilst undergoing law school he interrupted his schooling again to begin his religious ministries. Okotie attended the Grace Fellowship Bible School in TulsaOklahoma, and, soon after, established the Household of God Ministry. In 1990, Okotie established the annual Karis Awards, hosted by his church, to recognize and financially reward Nigerian citizens who selflessly serve the nation.

Ben Murray-Bruce serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Silverbird Group which spans across radio, TV, Cinema, Shopping mall, and a record label. Mr. Murray-Bruce serves as Chairman and Director of The Silverbird Group. He serves as a Director of National Sports Lottery Plc. He served in various public positions including; Director General of Nigerian Television Authority from 1999 to 2003; Member of the Board of National Arts Theatre, Nigerian Film Corporation, Federal Films Censors Board, National Film Distribution Company and Nigerian Anti- Piracy Action Committee. He promoted the Miss Universe- Nigeria Pageant in 1983, Miss Intercontinental Pageant, 1986-1994 and to date, he promotes the Annual Most beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant which he began in 1986. Mr. Murray-Bruce is a graduate of Business Administration from the University of California, USA in 1979.

Aliko Dangote Wins The Nigerian Golden Book Most Outstanding Industrial Hero Award, 2015


Alhaji Aliko Dangote, MFR, GCON (born 10 April 1957, Kano, Nigeria) is a business magnate in Nigeria who owns the Dangote Group, which has interests in commodities. The company operates in Nigeria and several other countries in Africa, including Benin, Cameroon, Togo, Ghana, South Africa and Zambia. As of January 2015, he had an estimated net worth of $18.6 billion USD .
Dangote is ranked by Forbes Magazine as the 23rd richest person in the world and the richest in Africa. He surpassed Saudi-Ethiopian billionaire Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi in 2013 by over $2.6 billion to become the world's richest person of African origin. Dangote was named as the Forbes Africa Person of the Year 2014. The other nominees for the award were South Africa’s Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, (SEC), Arunma Oteh, and President of the African Development Bank, Donald Kaberuka.

Phillip Asiodu Wins The Nigerian Golden Book Distinctive Hero Award, 2015


Phillip AsioduCommander of the Order of the Niger (CON) (born 19 February 1933, Lagos State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian Diplomat,Bureaucrat, past president of the Nigerian Economic Society and former Federal Minister of Petroleum.
Phillip was born on 26 February 1934. He attended King’s College, Lagos State, Nigeria in 1952 and later proceeded to the Queen's College, Oxford where he obtained a Master of Art (M.A) degree in Philosophy. He joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 1957 and later became the Chancellor, Nigerian Mission to the UN in New York. He joined the Nigerian Civil service in 1964 and was appointed Federal Permanent Secretary. In 1983, he was appointed Special Adviser to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari on economic affairs and was also the Chairman Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs. 

Fifi Ejindu Wins The Nigerian Golden Book Professional Icon Award, 2015


Fifi Ekanem Ejindu is a Nigerian Architect, businesswoman and philanthropist. Born in IbadanNigeria, she is the great granddaughter of King James Ekpo Bassey of Cobham Town in Calabar, Nigeria, and her father, Professor Sylvester Joseph Una, is from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Princess Fifi is the great granddaughter of King James Ekpo Bassey of Cobham Town in Calabar, Nigeria. Her mother’s grandfather was crowned King of Cobham Town by Queen Victoria in 1893. Princess Fifi goes by the title of Her Highness Obonganwan King James.
Offiong Ekanem Ejindu was born and raised in Ibadan, the Capital of Oyo State, Nigeria.
Her father Professor Sylvester Joseph Una studied at the Trinity College in Dublin and Brown University in the United States. He was the first Minister of Health in the former eastern region of Nigeria, and a member of the House of Parliament pre-independence. He then pursued an academic career and became one of the first indigenous lecturers at the University of Ibadan. Princess Fifi’s mother, Her Highness Obonganwan Ekpa Una, was also educated in England.

Tuface Idibia Wins 2015 Nigerian Golden Book Numero Uno (No.1) Entertainer Award



Innocent Ujah Idibia (born in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria), better known by his stage name 2face Idibia, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. He officially discontinued the use of the name Tuface and selected Tu-baba as his stage name.He is one of the most decorated and successful Afro pop artists in Africa. He is also one of the most bankable artists in Africa.
2Face has received one MTV Europe Music Award, one World Music Award, five Headies Awards (Hip-hop award), four Channel O Music Video Awards and one BET award for his musical work, four MTV Africa Music Awards, one MOBO award, one KORA award, and numerous additional nominations.

Folorunsho Alakija Wins 2015 Nigerian Golden Book African Woman Business Icon Award.


Folorunsho Alakija is a Nigerian businesswoman who has replaced Isabel dos Santos as the richest woman of Africa, and also is the richest black woman in the world. She is a business tycoon involved in the fashion, oil and printing industries. She is the group managing director of The Rose of Sharon Group which consists of The Rose of Sharon Prints & Promotions Limited and Digital Reality Prints Limited and the executive vice-chairman of Famfa Oil Limited. Alakija is ranked by Forbes as the richest woman in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $2.5 billion. As of 2014, she was listed as the 96th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.
Folorunsho has a foundation called the Rose of Sharon Foundation that helps widows and orphans by empowering them through scholarships and business grants.
